4:59 am - got a call from my buddy Dirk early in the morning (i was still sleeping
) he was on the road driving from Virginia to NY, but he's one hour ahead so it was closer to 6:00 am his time.
But the beds are so comfortable in the Hampton inn, i went right back to sleep.
7:39 am - going to get some breakfast then head out to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Its about 450 miles, mostly on one road, so i will gas up in St. Charles here.
Little cloudy out again.
8:52 pm - The ride from St. Louis to Oklahoma city was uneventful. I stopped in between the two cities and got some food from a nice vegetarian deli. They had some very tasty sandwiches.
The sped limit in Oklahoma is 75mph in many areas, so i was making very good time.
The landscape in Oklahoma is really beautiful. Clear plains stretched farther than the eye can see. I stopped at a picnic area (the only one on the interstate) and it was in a wooded hole, so you couldn't see any of the plains
. Don't know why they put a rest area in the only spot where you can't see the landscape?
I decided to go an extra 70 miles outside Oklahoma city to get a jump on my day tomorrow. Found a nice spot and booked a room at the Holiday Inn. Decided to go out to dinner and had the Avocado Enchilada from Alfredo's a Mexican place. I wasn't impressed
. Brought back some food for Jessica and Courtney at the Holiday Inn, and gave them the healthy lifestyle lecture about eating properly. I think i got through to them! (although they were ordering Pizza Hut as i was explaining the organic diet.
)
There's a YMCA right across the street, so i am going to get a lift on. Enjoy the pictures.
