The week/first hike started off foggy and cold. Being a natural adventurer, the fog wasnt going to sour my mood. However, the consensus of the hiking crew wasnt on the same page. Visibility was about 10-15 feet, add in the surrounding snow, and it was pretty hard to see. We has two cars: one at the start and one at the finish. I was betting the sun was going to burn off the fog around 12:00 pm. The others were a little more pessimistic. Day 2 Ptarmigan Tunnel
Day 2 Ptarmigan Tunnel-Ptarmigan Tunnel - 5.2 miles- Iceberg/Ptarmigan Trailhead behind the Swiftcurrent Motor Inn cabin area. Elevation climbs 2,300 feet.
The most challenging trail, as such; the most rewarding. Our first stop was a nice water fall known as Ptarmigan falls. Unfortunately, this is where our crew split up. Of course-waterfalls are dangerous-due in part to the unique nature of the water and slippery rocks. However, adventurer Ricky proceeded (after everyones warnings) to climb down the waterfall to get a better picture. On his way up, he slipped on the slippery wet rock, and bashed his knee pretty good. We didnt need to call the helicopter in for a rescue, but he surely wasnt going to make the remaining hike up to the tunnel.
Dick was kind enough to forgo his experience at the tunnel, and hike an alternative trail with Ricky to the lake. The rest of us forged on to the tunnel!
Unfortunately, i couldnt afford the extra weight of a camera on this hike, and i think ... Ptarmigan Tunnel - 5.2 miles-  Iceberg/Ptarmigan Trailhead behind the Swiftcurrent Motor Inn cabin area. Elevation climbs 2,300 feet.
